Imperial war museum chronicles the Berlin Wall

It is 20 years since the Berlin Wall was pulled down and Imperial War Museum North in Manchester is hosting an photography exhibition to commemorate the event.

Running from the 12th September to the 21st March next year,the display will include images captured by German photojournalists which illustrate the impact of the wall on the people of Berlin.

There are also some never seen before photographs from the British army which document the confrontation between the East and the West as the wall was erected as well as images of the wall being pulled down in Nov 1989.

For children, there is an intercative game which allows them to find out what life in a divided city was like when friends and family could have been on the other side of the Wall.

Admission to the exhibition as to the museum as awhole is free
